<p>There are two major types of spinal column injuries &#8211; complete and incomplete. With incomplete injuries, the loss of motor skills are not total or extreme, and there is just some loss in motor function or sensation. There are varying levels of incomplete spinal injuries some may be life changing, while others can be easily treated. Complete spinal injuries are the total nightmare. From the point of injury and downwards, everything is paralyzed. If someone gets injured at the neck, that unfortunate person then is paralyzed from the neck below which is basically the whole body.</p>
<p>Exercise help strengthen back muscles which support the spine. These will help a lot in providing support for the spinal column. <p>As we grow older, we need to keep nutrition in. It&#8217;s difficult to develop herniated discs because they can cause a lot of complications. Herniated discs occur when the spinal discs, which are the soft cushions between vertebrae, become less elastic and more brittle. When the discs rupture, they bulge out and can cause lots of friction between vertebrae. But herniated discs do not just occur on old people. Accidents can also cause herniated discs. Same thing with repetitive spine straining activities.</p>
<p>When the discs become herniated, the nerves may get pinched or compresses which would result in irritated or damaged nerves. With compressed nerves, signals may not pass properly, or not pass at all. Common herniated disc symptoms are electric shock pain, tingling numbness, muscle weakness, and bowel or bladder problems.</p>
<p>There are a lot of herniated disc treatment such as rest and activity medication, cold and hot compress, physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, and oral steroids. Other medications include narcotic pain medications and muscle relaxers. In worst cases such as pain and sensory abnormalities, surgery may be required.</p>
