Say good-bye to your electricity bill, at least potentially. Increasingly, homeowners are turning to solar energy as a means to save money. Not only is it an environmentally friendly option, it could also potentially save you a lot. Think tax rebates, no sales tax on solar panel-related expenses and more. Who wouldn’t want that?

The federal government has been trying to implement incentives for more responsible energy use for the past five years. The first tax break of its kind was the Energy Policy Act in 2005. People who opted for renewable energy were awarded it. Today’s world has definitely changed a lot, since there used not to be many incentives to induce people to switch to renewable energy before this act, if any at all.

You as a homeowner can now cash in a tax credit of up to $2000 or 30% of what you’ve invested in solar panel installation and equipment costs as a result of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 alone. While only homes that primarily made use of solar energy that were in existence from 2005-2007 were eligible to be covered, it was extended in 2008. You’re good to go if your home was built up through January 2009.

Other acts have been subsequently passed, such as the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, passed in 2008. Use of solar energy, including solar panels, now provides even more tax incentives. It both extends the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and also provides more of a tax credit benefit for home improvements done in 2009 or later. The $2000 tax credit maximum is removed by this bill in favor of the 30% solar energy investment rebate. Retroactivity in certain situations is also one of its features.

Individual states also may have state tax incentives for using solar panels on your home. Some of these states include New Mexico, Florida, Vermont, Minnesota, Washington, New York, Texas, Virginia, Arizona and California. While some states have tax rebates, others carry no sales tax on solar panel equipment costs. It is certainly worth looking into, if you’re considering going the environmentally friendly route. Solar panels can be installed by professionals or can be purchased in do-it-yourself kits. Either way, the tax incentives are well worth the switch.

Searching for real estate in Louisville CO or considering to buy Lyons CO real estate? You can find more information and access real estate listings from any region or city in Colorado.

The world population has grown, industrialization has advanced and our energy needs have also exploded in tandem. To be sure, our way of life has changed for the better overall but a re-assessment of the current fuel scenario as compared to that in the old days is in order. As much as we are used to and being comfortable with oil, coal and gas, we would be well-served to be sounding out alternative fuel sources of the earth for energy.

Truth be told, we have derived great benefits from our traditional fuels but there’s not a negative side-effect of modernization larger than that of the toll our energy wastes have taken on the environment. Hurricanes, typhoons, droughts, floods, melting icebergs, shriveling forests, global warming and so forth are but natural consequences of our own doing. The fact of the matter is every one of us has a part in them directly or indirectly.

It isn’t Molecular Science or Nuclear Physics. Everybody knows that conservation is the obvious way of cutting down on fuel consumption. The resultant drop in demand will of course ultimately lead to reduction in both cost and pollution. Besides that, there need to be other measures to cope with the ever-increasing appetite for fuel in this industrialized age. There need to alternative sources of energy. Not just that, they have to be green too!

Besides money, there are other costs associated with energy. Fuel wastes and the ravaging of our natural habitat as a result of non-renewable energy exploration are the prime culprits in this regard. As we increasingly consume fuel and deplete the reserves of oil, coal and gas, it will continue to get worse unless breakthrough efforts are garnered across the entire populace wherever possible to really make an impact.

The obvious answer here is renewable energy. There are a variety of ways to tap the earth for energy. The ones with the greatest reach are Wind and Solar Power Home generation. They can be handily decentralized into many small-scale grids or even individual stand-alone set-ups whereupon private homes would be able to join in on the energy crusade. Yes, any home can put up its very own wind and solar power generators through DIY and it’s a lot easier than most people think.

There’s no shortage of choices and options for home-DIY Wind and Solar Power Home set-ups and there must be a right one for anyone who’s ideally a landed house dweller with some real-estate compound. Guides and handbooks are widely retailed over the internet ranging from very basic units to full-fledged systems and scams have inevitably pervaded so watch out. Information is abundantly available over the internet to help sieve out the bad hats but by and large, the ones that are featured by specialty or review sites are safe bets.

Most people think of highly intelligent scientists when solar power is mentioned as a method of energy for a home. This is the biggest misconception made by the population. There are many do it yourself solar power resources that can help you install solar power in your home. Solar power is a great deal cheaper in the long run that typical power coming from an electric company.

The basics that need introduced includes electricity flowing on a dc output. Simply stated, this type of energy is produced using a dc power output, or battery. The battery only operates as a generator when it is night time. This will ensure energy in the home at night. Another benefit is constant hot water. There are two types of energy being used with solar power. Alternating current also known as ac is the type of electric that passes through lines on a pole. Dc is the type of current that is produced by solar power and fed back onto the ac lines.

While in the salvage yard, look around for some tubing. Tubing is usually made of copper, because copper allows water to stay hot. Once the water is inside the tubing, the sun heats it. The energy is burning inside the tubing, which makes heat. Heat makes energy.

When you use a solar energy source, you will not become completely energy independent. But you will be close. Although, the energy you create will not draw from the huge transformers strapped to telephone poles, you will be plugged into the regular power lines. Always inform your local electric company when you will be installing your solar energy gadgets.

When a home owner decides to go with solar energy. The power company must have a full list of contacts to be able to call you in case of a power line failure. When you are pushing electricity back into the power lines, and the power company shuts their source down. Your source is still pumping power through the lines. To an unknown repairman this mistake could be deadly.

All in all solar power is the best known alternative with helping the global warming crisis. The heat is used up, unlike the heat that is given off from huge industrial power plants.

There are companies available that provide the service of putting in residential solar power. However, these companies can be rather costly despite the government help and energy incentives given to them. One way we can help save the planet is to learn the do it yourself solar power methods and energize the home the renewable way.

Any type of renewable energy has been in existence for a long time. People are not as involved in learning about this as they should be. Nature provides all the energy anyone living on the Earth should need to live comfortably. Not only from the nature aspect, but think of the money that would be saved monthly with no electric bill.

The batteries should be 12 volt. Marina batteries work the best. These are otherwise known as the batteries that operate boats. Once these are purchased, you must find an inverter that is sized to suit your energy needs. Then you will need a different type of meter installed in place of the original meter that only runs one direction. The purpose of the reversing meter is to push excessive energy back into the electric lines that were bringing power into your home.

When you use a solar energy source, you will not become completely energy independent. But you will be close. Although, the energy you create will not draw from the huge transformers strapped to telephone poles, you will be plugged into the regular power lines. Always inform your local electric company when you will be installing your solar energy gadgets.

Just because you have chosen to make solar power your sole energy source, does not mean you are completely on your own power source. The electric company lines will be attached. All this means is you must be phoned in case of an emergency repair. The electric company will instruct you to turn your solar source off, to keep unwanted electric current from flowing into their energy source. If this link is not interrupted while service is being performed on the line. A lineman can be killed.

All in all solar power is the best known alternative with helping the global warming crisis. The heat is used up, unlike the heat that is given off from huge industrial power plants.

Utilizing solar energy has been proven to be environmentally friendly and a cost effective move. However, there are so many alternatives, it is hard to determine which one to go for.

by Tyler Hodger

Utilizing solar energy has been proven to be environmentally friendly and a cost effective move. However, there are so many alternatives, it is hard to determine which one to go for.

So what is the best way to select the most suitable panel for your needs? As mentioned, there are multiple types and configurations of solar panels that can be purchased. Furthermore, it really requires specialized knowledge to determine which ones to pick, not to mention actually installing them.

The best way to begin this task is to contact a specialist. Simply look for a company that is known for providing services for solar panel installation and ask them to evaluate the amount of power used in your home. After all, it might be the case that a solar panel system won’t fit with your house particulars.

After you find out which solar panel is appropriate for you (hopefully you will not discover that a solar panel system won’t work properly with your house), you should explore all the alternatives with regards to actually purchasing them.

There are several types of solar panels: solar roof tiles, solar patio covers, roof mounted solar panels and ground mounted solar panels:

1. Solar roof tiles are solar panels that are placed on your roof and interlock with your existing tiles. These tiles are very elegant looking and add to the appearance of one’s home. Furthermore, they come in many types of sizes and shapes. That being said, the installation and materials of this type of solar panel is costly. However, if one can afford this, it is certainly one of the best alternatives on the market.

2. Roof mounted solar panels also come in various styles. These are the most popular variety of solar panels as they are highly functional and versatile in comparison to the other types. These types of panels are placed on a frame which is fixed onto your roof. As a result, they do not require any major alterations to the roof. Moreover, they also protect your roof from the harsh weather elements thereby extending its life.

3. Solar patio covers. These are the smallest type of solar panels. Solar patio covers are placed in the garden patio and are practically invisible. They serve two purposes: they provide shade in addition to supplying energy. If your home does not have a roof, then this is might be the ideal solar panel for you.

4. Ground mounted solar panel system. This type of of solar panel is ideal if you have a lot of land space around your home that is unusable or unproductive. These are large scale systems and are usually stationary. They can also be motorized (to move in the direction of the sun) in order to ensure efficiency enhancement by at least 39%. You can opt for ground mounted solar panel systems that can be placed on ballasts. This system generates the largest amount of energy output and efficiency.

Although the above information can certainly assist the reader in picking a solar panel, nothing compares to discussing this issue with a specialist and getting his opinion.

To summarize, obtaining and installing a solar panel, regardless of the type, offers appealing benefits such as free and efficient energy, as well as knowing that you are helping to protect our environment.

You may be interested in making solar cells for your own house - clean energy is one of the latest and fastest-growing trends in the world.

by Brian Bradley

You may be interested in making solar cells for your own house – clean energy is one of the latest and fastest-growing trends in the world.

Just do a quick search online and you will find dozens of results on how to make solar cells at home – and these articles make it sound easy too. While it may be fun and not technically difficult, it takes time and is not a simple one-step process.

So what is wrong with a DIY solar cell project?

1. You will need to go to the hardware store to buy sheets of copper and wire along with an electric stove, separate from your kitchen stove.

2. You also need to spend an hour or so heating up the copper piece, and then cooling it down so you can use it – and 1 hour per cell adds up.

3. You would need thousands of solar cells to power a house – and without thousands of hours of free time this will prove to be a costly, lengthy project.

So if you’re still determined to create solar power, what’s the better alternative?

For one, you should look on eBay and buy “chipped” or “broken” solar cells there.

This would cost money but this would also save you precious time and money – which you would have lost if you had made your own solar cells.

You should also remember that solar cells are not expensive on their own, but the assembly process of creating a “professional” solar panel is expensive.

The better idea, therefore, would be to buy some cheap, pre-made cells online or from a local store and saving yourself the time and energy that making thousands of panels from scratch would require.

So, should you make your own solar cells?

It is a great idea if you have a year or two of free time, but if you don’t have that kind of time, you would be better served buying the parts used and by doing the “expensive” work yourself. While it might be a fun project, making your own solar cells is still just too difficult for nearly everyone out there.

A way to reduce the costs with electricity in your household might consist of building solar panels. If you decide to have a solar panel in your home, you will be able to save about 80% of the electricity bill ever month.

Seeing the natural disasters disrupting so often the electricity supplies and the fossil fuels running rapidly low, it is very important to provide ourselves with an alternative, by replacing the classical generation system for energy with a substitute one.

It is pretty easy to build some solar panels on your own for your personal use. Being able to use basic instruments that everybody has around his courtyard and to handle a couple of wires are the first steps to a well done job. You should also consider some components needed to begin building a solar panel.

The key components are the solar modules that basically turn the energy from the sun into electricity. You may buy them online, on sites like EBay, because this is the cheapest way of acquiring them. If you are willing to build other panels another time, it is way better to buy them in mass.

The system’s base is represented by the sheet Plywood. It is well recommended to use a plywood that is pretty strong. Do not use chipboard, as it is too breakable. Purchasing good quality materials can be considered an investment, but your work will last much longer and will be way better done. You’ll also need copper wires which will transport the electricity into your home. You will need plenty of this so buy it in bulk. The drills, the screwdrivers or woodwork glue are accessories that we find in every home, so you may not need to purchase them too.

For the times when the weather gets bad you must think about using some PVC sheeting in order to provide protection for the solar panels, taking into account the fact that the solar cells are very delicate.

Is not so difficult to acquire the needing materials, but getting the panels assembled might be a little trouble. To do this thing correctly, you must follow a precise set of instructions. They will provide you with the exact dimensions that you must use, along with appropriate assemblage and some diagrams that you can’t find anywhere else. Purchasing the sets of diagrams that have clear explanation is worth every penny. You will thus not jeopardize the entire process of building your own home solar panel system.
