Don’t you think its time to get the garden ready? If you want a successful garden, prepare it well. This may make a difference, when it is time to plant.

Preparing for summer

Rake up all of the old, dead leaves. Examine the soil closely. Prune back any perennial plants. This will give them a chance to start growing early. Get some fresh soil in the ground. Buy bags of topsoil or manure. Spread them evenly throughout.

This is the time to make sure that your soil PH is right. You may need to buy a PH testing kit. Buy a PH meter. It will have a soil probe. The meter is very easy to use. However, it may not be as accurate as the kit. You should be able to have a close idea, in any manner. The PH meter will register numbers. A number seven is in the middle and is neutral. Lower numbers represent an alkaline content. Higher numbers are acid content.

It is important to know which PH level your crops require. Some may need a slightly alkaline soil. Some may need acidic. In addition, other may require a neutral PH. The best way to find out, is to check seed packages. You will find a great deal of information on the web. If your soil is too acidic, put lime or ashes into the ground.

If you need acidic, you can add sphagnum peat moss. Compost may add a slight amount also. Decaying material will have acidic properties.

Now is a good time to add magnesium to your soil. You can add Epsom salts to the ground. This will work well.

Crop rotation is very important for your soil’s nutrients. Change areas where you plant certain crops. Do this with related crops like nightshades. This includes potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers. You will have to do less fertilizing, this way.

Mix up the soil and aerate it. Use a garden tiller, if you have access to one. You can get rid of weeds and unwanted plants.

If there is no more danger of frost, consider planting marigolds. Put them on the edges of the garden. This will help to repel insects from your crops. You can also plant the marigolds indoors and set them out, when it is warm. This may give them an earlier start on the season.

Preparing for winter

You have enjoyed the warm days of summer. Autumn is here. Before long, you will see snow and ice. It is time to get the garden ready for winter. Rake the leaves. You can also run over them with your mower. If you have a grass catcher, it will help shred them. It will also make them easier to use.

Pick everything from the garden. Green tomatoes are great for many recipes. You can ripen some things in a paper bag. Throw everything else into the compost pile. Start one, if you do not have one. Make sure that you do not place any sick or diseased plant material in your compost.

Conclusion

Use spring to get ready for summer. Take advantage of autumn to prepare for winter. Your garden will look better. When its time to get the garden ready, you will know what to do.

If you are planning to sell your HDB flat and you desire to have as many buyers as you can as well as a good selling price, there is one thing you might want to consider, RENOVATION.

To get you started, there are a couple of things you need to think about. First, understand how the sales price work. Naturally you will not want to invest so much on renovation and end up loosing in the end. Try to research how much a renovated house can sell in the market.

Think like a buyer. And what exactly do buyers do? When they view your house they step inside and look around. Steve Berges author of the book called “101 Cost Effective Ways to Increase the Value of Your Home” formulated guidelines that will give a very good impression for home buyers once they step in to your place, these includes the following:

1. Spend money on what can be seen vs. what can’t be seen. Looking at your budget, Berger cited that you put a higher priority on improvements that can be easily seen because those will you give the best return of investment.

2. Fix up the exterior first, then the interior. Ugly exterior can cause prospective buyers to drive away without going inside the house, you should work on those first.

3. Clear up any rubbish and make sure your HDB flat is clean and good smelling. This is a very easy thing to do. You dont have to invest so much money on this one, but if you neglected it, you can loose potential buyers as well as good deals.

For best results, Berges recommends that you seek the advice of real estate agents who are well informed how the HDB market in Singapore works and who has a very good idea on the optimal renovations that gives the best impact.

Find and get experienced top Renovation Singapore contractors to perform your HDB Flat Renovation at the best deals!

Yes! Yes, yes, and yes a thousand times more. That was the answer you gave a week ago when your boyfriend took you out to dinner and proposed. There was no hesitation in your mind then and there really isn’t any now either. The only thing that you’re worried about though is the actual details of the wedding.

Your boyfriend, now your fiance of course, is very laid back and casual about it and said that anything you want was OK with him. He was sure that you would do a smashing job, just tell him if you needed anything.

That’s all well and good, and normally you would have relished the chance, in fact you did jump at the chance. But now you’re stuck on what to do for your wedding decorating ideas and motifs are all blending as one into your brain and you still don’t know where to have the reception.

Of course, you could have the reception in an up-scale hotel with the works, everything catered for and all the niggily little details taken care of, but that seemed so impersonal, and you really want your wedding to be one that you, and everyone else, will remember for the rest of your life. So what should you do now?

Well, first off, just take a deep breath and relax. Working yourself up into a frenzy won’t do you any good. Next gather your bridesmaids, and anyone else you trust, to your side and have a council of war.

This is where you will hammer out the details and get fresh perspective and ideas into your planning, and where most of all, you can have some fun with your wedding decorating ideas. You’d be simply amazed at how many great ideas a group of people can get if they’re working on something like wedding decorating ideas with wedding cards being the least of it.

So you start with an idea, perhaps to have the all of the cards handmade so that they become extra special to you as time passes. Someone else has the fantastic idea of getting a load of those little disposable cameras so that those who wanted to, would be able to take photos, and you’d end up with a great many more candid pictures than you otherwise would have had.

Yet another person comes up with a great overall design theme. Your wedding decorating ideas are now coming fast and furious as one person after another speaks up giving you all the advice you need to sort out your wedding plans.

However, it is your mother who comes up with the best wedding decorating ideas of all and such like being the least of all her concerns! Perhaps you’d like to get married and then have your reception at their place.

They could put up a large tent to cater for all the guests, and the house could be decorating to suit the occasion. And you say, ‘Yes’, again because there’s nothing you want more than to get married at home.

Old houses are fascinating. Sure, for the ghost busters such dwellings are ghost-infested but for architecture and decorating enthusiasts, old houses have a mystery that has been contained for as long as the house has been standing. This adds to the allure of the place. The vintage furniture, old-fashioned designs and traditional colors sum up the time and story of the house.

Patterned wallpapers give you a good starting point for decorating in the heirloom style. A lot of old homes, from the Victorian era all the way to the 1940′s, had wallpaper, so it’s a very faithful period detail to add. Like with paint, you could choose to work with just one accent wall if you don’t want to do the whole room right away. Designs like solid stripes or a damask pattern should work really well with the heirloom theme.

Rugs are more important for the heirloom style than they are for most others. A single Oriental rug at the center of the room can make or break the whole antiquated look that you’re trying to get. It’s your chance to inject a bit of color and luxury to a room that should otherwise be kept drab and understated. Just avoid small or modern design rugs in an heirloom-themed space, and you should do fine.

Area rugs in the main rooms or at least in the receiving area can add formality to the space. Choose your rugs well to go with the design. Oriental and Persian rugs are perfect. Nevertheless, any rug will do as long as they are understated, classic or intricately designed for that old-look feel.

For chairs, the bigger the better. Old-fashioned design makes use of oversized seats and if possible, those with carvings. High-backed chairs for the dining table also create a good impression of an ancestral period.

High-backed chairs too give sophistication to the dining room. The Victorian style utilizes these kinds of chair, which give the room an ambiance of formality and status symbol.

Chandeliers are probably the last thing you’d think of buying for an heirloom style room but they are far from being the least important. In terms of drama, chandeliers are some of the best items you could ask for because they’re so elegant and have been established as quite the status symbol. You don’t need to have chandeliers hanging all over the place; just one above the center of the largest space will already create the dramatic effect.

Home Design has never been so easy with these oriental area rugs.

Instantly, you saw your musty curtains, your dull furniture, and your boring lay-out. You remembered one quotation, "Do not do for tomorrow what you can do for today." Unusual as it may seem, this quote grew more realistic to you than at any time that you have been a mother to three beautiful kids. Being the mother, you realized that you are the only one who can do it; the one who holds the eye of the tiger for details.

Every corner and cranny of your home was alright when all of a sudden, an offer of a new beginning came knocking on your door. Immediately, you saw your musty curtains, your dull furniture, and your boring lay-out. You recollected one quotation, “Do not do for tomorrow what you can do for today.” Strange as it may seem, this quote grew more real to you than at any time that you have been a mother to three beautiful kids. Being the mother, you understood that you are the only one who can do it; the one who holds the eye of the tiger for details. You hesitated; but were innervated when you have remembered seeing shows in the television and learning much about it on magazines. In a brief moment you said to yourself: My consciousness is enough! What you desire to do at long last came out, encapsulated in one word: renovation!

Before we start getting giddy painting and buying things that we need, let us first be wise and make a checklist for our project: Are our sofas not as colorful as before? Do they possess a pigment that is becoming an magnet for germs and other microorganisms? Are our once cream-colored soothing bed turned into a gray-colored cushion with deep depressions? Does everything just seem defective to our eyes? If we responded yes to any of these queries, then our askant view about our family’s future is just right. And we know for certain that our being perfectionist will not let this moribundity continue.

With all the careful scrutiny and budgeting, the process of renovation may really seem abstruse. It will integrate a knowledge of reinventing things which may need the powers of an engineer; a plan of a new theme which may need the talents of an architect; and of course, a basket of pixie dust (that will make your new home a picturesque of beauty) which may need the magic of a fairy. But who says we cannot be an interior designer? Who says mothers are just a crowd of weaklings that cannot even hook a nail? Well, for the information of non-home makers, we are also capable of doing novel things; particularly if it is for our dear families. With this vindication, we can now “borrow” our hubby’s bandoleer and arm it with our necessary weapons for house reinvention.

After our home check-up and budget computing, let us now at last start with our project. The things that we may do are the following: Modify Colors – Color is everything; it touches our moods. We should find the perfect color that will fit onto the different personalities in our home; Get Over: Space is precious; it is the key to lay-out. We should get over with the old, unhelpful and cumbersome things we still keep in the house that causes it to be jammed; Add- The balance lies in addition and subtraction. If we take away old things, the remedy is to replace them with new and definitely helpful ones. These additions should not only be amiable to our family but also to the size of our home; and lastly, Creativity- Creativity is the cherry on top of our ice-cream. It is the element that gives vibrancy.

Restlessness and Muscle Aches, these are the certain symptoms that we will get after this project. At the end of our gallant and tiring pursuit, we may be even marked as bizarre for our fearless venture into something we are not really familiar with. But do not fret and regret, success or not, we certainly earned something out of it. Just like what one quotation said, “Experience is what you get when you do not get what you want.” With a “new” home, we can now be rest assured that every nook and cranny is alright. We may not be experts on house renovation but fortunately, we are moms; we know best.

A home remodeling or renovation project is not as simple as it may sound. Renovating a building is not just all about how it will look or function, but most significantly you have to consider what type of materials are used during the renovation, how are you going to deal with your suppliers and contractors, etc. These of course will be covered by the person who will supervise the project. Thus before a renovation project starts, one of the most critical decisions to be made is who will manage the project.

You can either hire a professional who will do the work or alternatively, you can supervise the project yourself. If you opt to manage the work yourself, make sure that you have enough experience to deal with this. According to Gail La Grouw, the following are some common mistakes done by owners who have decided to take on the role of managing the renovation project themselves,

1. Poor Planning

Producing a good plan is a important part of your role as a project manager. The success of the project mostly depend on this. Your plan must include as much detail as possible. You have to regard planning for contingencies as well.

2. Poor Materials Management

Buying of the right materials at the right time is a huge job during renovation. Think about this task properly, as it can be a cause of delay to your schedule. You can also incur extra cost if you do not have your materials at the right time.

3. Poor Record Keeping

Lodge everything especially matters that have to do with finances. Record keeping must be completed everyday. You certainly will leave out something in your list if you do it in an inconsistent way. Record keeping will also let you know exactly where you are in terms of time and dollars against the plan specification.

4. Not Managing The Work Site

Most subcontractors are trying to reduce cost by ignoring a number of regulations and workplace safety items. This is a bad thing of course. Make sure that there is a proper insurance for their area of work.

5. Poor Communication

As home owners are not that familiar with terms being used for renovation, miscommunication can happen along the way. Make sure that when you do not understand things, clear it up, but never loose your authority in front of your contractors of course.

6. Poor Change Management Control

All changes made during the renovation process must be documented and sign off.

7. Not Keeping Check of the Budget

Keep an eye with your budget, as most projects will overrun the initial estimate, make sure to add some percentage of your budget for your contingency plans.

Boat baby bedding is a theme that works extremely well for a son, as the colors and designs are very male, while being fresh and inviting. As parents set sail to find the perfect nautical bedding for their son they should be aware that the choice may not be an easy one.

Because every maritime motif will include water in some way, blue will be an essential component of a nautically themed nursery. Shells, boats, lighthouses and more can be used to transform a room into a nautical themed sanctuary with just a little decorative creativity.

Boys nursery bedding has its fair share of shopping dilemmas, but if you are a little overwhelmed by the nearly infinite variety of options available to you in the arena of baby boy linens, stop the confusion by deciding on a maritime theme right from the start. For parents who want a nautical-themed nursery with a more traditional look, there are linens with a classic design that includes baby-safe quilts that depict the famous mariner’s compass block.

It’s easy to make a splash in your son’s nursery by shopping for nautical bedding online. The majority of bedding ensembles with a maritime motif will include lively scenes of cheery sailboats floating in serene aqua waters with flying seagulls overhead. Richly textured micro suede used in both traditional and modern interpretations of a nautical theme will add quality and depth to the designs.

After a quick online search for nautical crib bedding, it is only natural for parents to be concerned about being able to afford quality crib bedding. When you’re experiencing a divide between what you want for the nursery and what your finances will allow, remember that this is something most adoring new moms and dads face.

Bedding ensembles are great for creating a nursery with a nautical motif and not having to feel as if you’re drowning financially. You don’t have to break the bank, for under a few hundred clams you can get a whole ensemble including essential linens. Some sets include not just bedding but also decorative touches such as drapery, continuing the maritime motif beyond the crib. The result will be a sweet and cozy Oceanside sanctuary for your littlest sailor.
